Job Aid: Time Management
Overview
The project is a job aid for Time Management with the goal of helping a group of associates effectively manage time.
Audience: Any Associates in ITRenew
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, Video Development, Content Creation
Tools Used: Vyond, Adobe Captivate, Mindmeister
Problem and Solution
Balancing productivity with well-being can be one of the most important—and challenging—elements of starting and maintaining a successful career. Many associates in the company experience challenge finding the right time management strategy for their situation. In this case, I need to build content for a group of associates to help them with their time management skills.
Process
The ADDIE model (Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) was used for this project. After analyzing the task requirement and identifying the target audience, I chose a scenario-based eLearning training example: Time management.
To identify the focus of the eLearning simulation, I created an Action Map to clarify what information is helpful in order to improve associates’ time management skills. This includes the benefits and tips of effective time management. I chose Vyond as the professional video tool to create this project due to its engaging and effective educational purpose.
Full Development
I learned the functions of Vyond quickly and applied them in a timely manner. Based on the Action Map, I started bringing these ideas into the video. After creating the basic flow of the video, I adjust the slides' color in order to fit the company’s theme color and added text-to-speech in order to make it sound more professional.
Animated Video
Infographic
Moreover, I created a takeaway infographic according to the video in order to provide a summary of the main takeaways of the video, helping associates to acquire information easily.
Interactive Video with knowledge check
I created knowledge check quizzes in the video to assess learners’ retention, helping associates to retain their knowledge.
Takeaways
This project helped me gain a stronger sense of the instructional design process from beginning to end. I learned how to design, develop, and refine a scenario-based learning experience that addressed real-life performance problems. I discovered how essential action mapping is because it allowed me to focus the eLearning on performance problems that were best resolved through training.
The development phase of this project was instrumental in gaining a deeper understanding of tools, Vyond and Adobe Captivate, that help create professional and quality eLearning experiences. I’ve discovered just how much every detail counts in the learning experience - from buttons, spacing, text font, weight, and consistent animations - these details make a big difference between an experience that is mediocre and outstanding.
